Need: Business Plan for a Brewing Company

Bringing a Dream to Life

A few years ago we got a call from a man who was working as an assistant brewer in Denver. After years of working in various commercial brewing environments, he was ready to pursue the dream of opening his own artisan brewery, focusing on hoppy ales and mixed-culture farmhouse ales.

He had already identified a location in the quaint mountain town of Nederland, Colorado, and written a preliminary, 14-page business plan. He had secured some investors but needed more, as well as a bank loan.

We didn’t know much about beer but were happy to dive in and learn.

Action

Over the next couple of months, we interviewed this founder and helped him get his well-thought-out plans onto paper in a way that would be accessible to non-subject-matter experts. Along the way, we researched the industry so as to better understand brewing methods and equipment, beer distribution models, and demographics of craft beer drinkers. Gradually, over many drafts passed back and forth between the founder and our office, we came up with an in-depth, solid business plan that laid a real blueprint for the company’s eventual opening and operation.

What the Client Said

“Thanks again for all your help with the business plan as that was a major factor in selling our vision to investors!” said Chris Marchio, Knotted Root Brewing Company. The company is making distinctive ales and sours, and regularly offering tastings and other events at their brewery in Nederland. Check them out!
